CONFERENCE TO EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE ON THE SCHOOL COURSE «CULTURE
OF GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD» AND FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF
THE COURSE'S TEACHERS. THE LAST METHODICAL TRAINING WORKSHOPS
HELD SINCE 2008-2010

The Integration and Development Center for Information Research
Center held this education conference as part of the project
«Support for the development of intercultural education in Crimea»
(implemented with the support of the OSCE High Commissioner
on National Minorities). Teachers involved in the teaching of
the course «Culture of Good Neighborhood» took part in the conference
during the 17th and 18th December 2011.
The conference was attended by over 50 participants. Developers
of the course, including the course author Margaret Aradzhioni,
presented new manuals that were prepared and published during
the previous year of the project. In addition, new materials
and exercises for the development of cultural sensitivity and
school mediation were also presented. The materials were made
available on CD, and included three new video tutorials on the
traditional arts and crafts of Crimea.
During the conference students and teachers from School Gymnasium
¹ 1 in Belogorsk provided expertise in the analysis and resolution
of conflicts by means of «Forum Theatre». In addition, a panel
discussion took place on new methods of efficiency for the course
«Culture of Good Neighborhood» at the stage of its mass uptake.
A master-class on the experience of student film clubs was also
given. And finally, participants presented their own experience
of utilising ethnographic museums and tourism routes to achieve
the objectives of the «Culture of Good Neighborhood» course,
and discussed the potential of expanding this field of work.
The next conference is planned for elementary school teachers
who lead the «Culture of Good Neighborhood» course in schools
