"CRIMEAN MOSAIC: A GREAT DIVERSITY" AND THE "CRIMEAN ART COMPETITION
FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FRIENDSHIP"
In celebration of Europe Day in Crimea an award ceremony
was held for the winners of the contests – “Crimean Mosaic:
A Great Diversity” and the “Crimean Art Competition for the
International Day of Friendship” (also known as the
“My Friend” competition, held from January 20th to March 20th
2011). The contests were created for school pupils and university
students to submit their amateur video, photography and art
work on the theme of cultural diversity.
The ceremony took place in the Central Park of Culture and
Leisure (on Salgir promenade, opposite the Tchaikovsky Music
College). In this space a symbolic European village was created
where the creative work of each student was on display for all
The competition coincided with the World Day for Cultural Diversity
(21 May) and is part of the project entitled "Support for
multicultural education in the Crimea”, which is funded by the
OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.
On May 21 the entire world celebrated the Day of Cultural Diversity.
This holiday was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United
Nations and was first celebrated on May 21, 2003. In establishing
this holiday the UNESCO Director General, Koichiro Matsuura,
highlighted the importance of preserving cultural diversity
throughout the world.
From January 20th to March 20th the students' and pupils' creative
works were selected by a jury made up of teachers and methodologists.
The jury picked six winners of the “Crimean Mosaic” competition
(three school pupils and three university students). They are:
1st place: Zhetikov Yuri (Evpatoria, school ¹ 15)
2nd place: Veliyeva Nedine (n. clean, Chistensky UCMJ "School-Gymnasium")
3rd place: Hodoreva Valeria (n. clean, Chistensky UCMJ "School-Gymnasium")
1st place: Zadorozhnaya Olesya (Crimean branch of
the National Academy of Art and Architecture)
2nd place: Lyushnevskaya Ioannina (TNU them. Vernadsky)
3rd place: Gladkoskok Natalia (TNU them. Vernadsky)
The contest, “Crimean Art Competition for the International
Day of Friendship”, had nine winners (three from each age group
– 5 to 6, 7 to 8, and 9 to 10 year olds). They are:
Nomination 5-6 years
1st place: Anastasia Trofimova (ward JCU ¹ 79 Simferopol)
2nd place: Kovtun, Sergei (JCU alumnus ¹ 44 Simferopol)
3rd place: Shcherbina Olesya (UCMJ student village. Gvardeiskoye
Nomination 7-8 years
1st place Schuvaylo Dmitry (gymnasium ¹ 10 Simferopol)
2nd place Bersenyev Daniel (OR ¹ 23 Simferopol)
3rd place Minakina Milada (BUVK "School-Gymnasium g.Bahchisaray)
Nomination 9-10 years
1st place Piskareva Sofia (School ¹ 7 Simferopol)
2nd place Dobrobatko Anna (UCMJ ¹ 107 Simferopol)
3rd place Sikhachi Denis (UCMJ pos.Gvardeyskoe Simferopol district)
And for the collective nomination of "The most friendly
class", three classes from schools throughout Crimea won.
1st place: 3-A class Chistensky UCMJ "School-Gymnasium
2nd place: 3-B class of URC "Hope" Simferopol
3rd place: 4-V class of school ¹ 2 pgt.Chernomorskoe
The award ceremony was open to all participants and winners
of the competitions, as well as their parents and friends.
